What's the intended purpose? Is it long term or just for a good et? You can remove the carpet,passenger seat, switch to the transparent roof panel, lexan rear hatch, lighter wheels. Remove mufflers.

This was discussed indepth on a thread a few months back.
1. Loose the glass and install lexan windows.
2. Carbon fiber hood.
3. Make sure lights are plastic and not glass.
4. Remove radio and all speakers.
5. Remove power seats and install manual seat tracks and aftermarket seats.
6. Take out mass back carpet and install lightweight carpeting.
7. Use plastic roof panel instead of solid.
8. Swap out flywheel/clutch/torque converter assy as necessary for lighter gear.
9. Remove 13" brakes and put 12" stuff on.
10. Remove A/C system.
11. Remove rear package tray cover.
12. Lose weight yourself......
13. Skinny fronts and draglite rear wheels.
14. Remove front swaybar and go to smallest rear bar.
15. Remove resonator and mufflers and install straight pipe.
16. Find an all aluminum block to install.
17. Remove passenger seat, dead weight both full or empty. :D

Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, but the Corsa system, from what I have heard, weighs the same as the stock exhaust (at least the C4 version).
Also the way you have worded that it sounds like you are saying you have have 2 Corsa mufflers. I wasnt aware Corsa sold just the mufflers....
The stock LT1 exhaust weights 55 pounds from what I have heard/
The mufflers weigh a lot, just got two Corsa's, gotta be 18 - 22 lbs EACH!

MMMM looks like Exhuast is the only reasonable thing
If money is no problem you can lose some serious weight be switching to Wilwood, Baer etc. brakes and wheels like CCW's and the like. I bet you could lose around 100lbs w/ those mods.

Money IS an issue, but I'm planning of putting exhuast on the car this coming year so I'll where where I'm at then and then decide if I want to try and cut it down anymore. I don't want to gut the car and I need AC, I just figure that weight reducation will help all aspects of performace, I'm not building it to go down the 1/4 mile so I really don't want to sacrafice handling with droping sway bars or putting smaller brakes on the car.

Actually the Eradispeed rotors claim to be up to 8 pounds (? seems like a lot) lighter than the stock rotors. Even if the real gain was only 5 pounds. 5 times 4 = 20 pounds of unsprung weight saved.

wow thats interesting. can anybody tell me more about unsprung weight? and what the conversion ratio is? i think mojo was talking about it a little while ago and how much of a difference it makes and why. can anybody help fill me in?

The way I see it... is if your planning on taking your car at the 1/4 mile track, try to remove the easy stuff the day before you go, like the spare, the inside doars and even the passenger seat, someone could even keep a set of front skinny wheels just for days at the track an even drag radials... who knows? maybe even removing the mufflers the day before is possible.
Just an idea
if your not going at the track I would leave every thing the way it is, flat tires do happen, AC is realy worth keeping for those hot days and the inside of the car would look like poopie if every thing was removed.
I'm restauring the inside of my car and not taking it apart :crazy:

As far as unspring weight goes, it has no more effect on acceleration than sprung weight unless it is rotating unsprung weight. Unsprung weight at the outside diameter of the tire has the same effect on accelerations as twice the same amount of sprung weight.
Something at 1/2 the tire diameter has the same effect on acceleration as 1.25 times the same amount of sprung weight. Once you get to a smaller diameter than the tires, the rotational inertia differences get real smaller fast.
Reduced unsprung weight will generally improve the ride and less than smooth road grip. But small changes probably won't be noticable to the seat of your pants.
Another poster mentioned 10 times the effect. That won't happen with unsprung weight, but weight reduction on the rotating bits on the engine can make that much difference, especially in the lower gears.

I do have the whole system, just didn't unpack it all yet. Work gets in the way. I would "guess" the full cat back Corsa weighs about the same as stock. I said "guess". If I get to it I'll weigh both when I do the install.
The point I didn't make very well, is that the mufflers (by themselves) weigh almost 50 lb's, straight pipe, if you dig the sound, weighs a lot less. :seeya
