with the rally wheels they are stamped with a date code,manufacturers logo, and size code on the front face. 69-82 wheels are stamped "AZ" WHICH INDICATES 15X8. "AZ" is adjacent to the valve stem hole. 68 rally wheels are 15x7 and have code "AG" stamped adjacent to valve stem. also adjacent is manufacturers logo and the date code. on the side of the hole is "K" for Kelsey Hayes (wheel manufacturer) then a dash and a "1" representing chevrolet,then another dash and either 7,8,9,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,1,2 for the last digit year of manufacture (these numbers above start at 67 and go to 82) then following a space is one or two more numbers for month of manufacture and on the other side of valve hole is one or two more numbers for the day of manufacture hope this helps :thumbs:

Considering my '71 has a build date of *I 13*(Sept 13) , how would it be possible for the rally wheels to have this code?
K 1-1 10 27 AZ
That would be October 27th, right? I've never been on an assembly line, so I don't know how that works. Maybe they were changed at the dealership? Or are the wheels built the year before and designated for the next year model vette?
Considering my '71 has a build date of *I 13*(Sept 13) , how would it be possible for the rally wheels to have this code?

I'll check the spare while I am on vacation starting Thursday. But, all 4 rims have the same Oct 27 code. It's always interesting to find these tidbits about these C-3's that you never knew.

I am sure ralley wheel theft was very common back then. I bet many have been replaced. I'll have to check mine.
