Default 74 vette, support under rear window

I bought a 74 vette off e bay and got a surprise when I realized the reason there was no back window was because someone had removed the support fron under the window. I'm familiar with 69-73 where the support catches water and feeds it our to the inner fender by way of rubber hoses. In 74 that changed. Would someone tell me what changed. The rectangles on the 74 are closed where the 73 was open. Help. jax

I believe the drains you are referring to were from the plenum of the "Astro Ventilation" system used on non-air conditioned cars of that era. If the car had factory air, the gills were present but non-functional (the body was solid underneath).
