No start question - need help
just replaced starter, solenoid, ignition switch and some other components in the steering column - now I don't have power to the solenoid. I used a test light all along the solenoid wire all the way back to the wiring panel on the engine side of the firewall and I get nothing. Battery is charged. I ran a wire from the + side of the battery to the fusible link connection to the solenoid and the car starts. What the heck am I missing here?
Any help is appreciated.

Check your ground wires off the starter. Also, double check that you have all the wires connected to the correct terminals on the solenoid.

Could it be the ground wire if I can jumper the starter and solenoid and the car starts? I'm positive the wires to the starter are correct.
I ran a lead from the + battery post to the solenoid and it starts.

Did you fool with the ignition switch on the steering column at all? Maybe the connection is loose. Check the fusible links in the harness between the solenoid and the horn relay. Use a test light or volt meter to see if you have juice at the horn relay bus. Other possibilities: bad neutral safety switch (or loose connection), wires on wrong lugs at solenoid, bad ignition switch, corrosion on blade connectors in the firewall bulkhead connector/fuse panel, bad ground someplace, wires between battery and starter/solenoid are bad.

Thanks ettev. It was the neutral safety switch. When I checked it before and pried it open one of the pins feel out. Stuck it back together and presto!
