Completed 2 fun projects on my 68 vert
:mad did I say Fun?
Project one. Replace missing drivers side mirror.
1.Order Mirror and mounting kit
2. Receive kit and realize I am still missing something that was mounted to the door.
3.order drivers side mirror mounting bracket from eckers thinking it was the missing piece.
4.Receive peice and verify I already have it.
5.Consolt with CF and discover there is indeed a missing bracket that was attached to the inside of the door.
6.Buy some steel, drill and tread to replace apparently unobtainable bracket.
7. Attach to door and then realize clearance to window is very tight and must have shorter bolts.
8. get shorter bolts, mount brackets install mirror, mirror screw wont thread.
9. After 20 minutes, get flash light and realize out side bracket needs some filing
10. File braket hole.
11. Mount mirror (at least it looks nice)
Project 2
Replace gas lid emblem and chome trim.
1.Realize that very funky fastners (spin rivots?) are used to mount lid to new chrome trim.
2.Realize that said fasteners are unobtainable.
3.Consolt CF
4.Per CF grind down nubs left from spin rivots. Cut 1/4" steel flat stock to appoximate shape of mount area. Grind until fits. Epoxy said steel into mount. Drill and tap for #10 24 screws.
5. Put on new logo, mount to car (looks really nice)
Now that was fun!

Ain't nothing as easy as it should be when working on these cars. At least that has been my experience.
