C3 7qt oil pan that will fit?
I have tried a couple of different 7qt oil pans for my 78 corvette. However, they all seem to be htting the "big bar thingy" from the steering unit. (rubs about 6 inches back from the front of the oil pan and about 4.5 inches deep from the bottom of the block) Is there a known large volume oil pan that will fit?

1st post, welcome. I have a stock pan, but others on the site have 7 quart pans. You should get an answer soon.

Yes, have a 400ci sbc in it.

A 6 qt pan with the long filter gets you almost 7 qts total, close enough? Are you running super high rpm's or racing it? Gotta love a 400sb. :yesnod:

I have a Moroso 7qt on my sbc 400 and it fits just fine.

No scraper in this one.I got a kit from Summit that included the pump with welded pickup and the pan for like $175.It does have a trap door to control some oil movement,but no scraper or screen.

Azmodeus - As you can see from the money pits picture. The knuckle joint where the ram attches to the steering arm is the high point.
I custom made my own 1/2 inch thick block out of aluminum and spaced the ram down where it attaches to the drivers side frame. I then had enough space to clear my 8 quart road racing pan built for up to 4 inch stroker small blocks.
A fellow forum member I know ground the top of the joint for added clearance :seeya

I'm using the Moroso 20191 with my 406. It has trapdoor/scraper/tray.

From your pic, it looks like you bent up the oil pan to have enough clearance?
I'm getting the conclusion that there is not one that fits without modification to the pan or the arm?
