Re: OT: Pictures from the LeMans race at Road Atlanta (shamby)
I watched most of the race on TV. Were you anywhere near beig able to see the moron in the Olive Garden 550 Ferrari? Well he had spun and decided not to wait for traffic to go on by. So he drives 90 degrees to the flow of traffic with people trying to avoid him. That's just about the time a GT Porsche loses it's driver door and the Ferrari is missing most of it's front end.
I go to the west coast ALMS races. Panoz's are just bad to the bone. I'd rather hear nearly 500 ci of N/A horse power anyday over those screaming turbo cars.

I seen it on the Big screen. The Panoz are bad to the bone, but I heard that they are retiring. The Corvette and Ferrari battle is always good.

IMO - I don't like it when the yellow Vette's win. They legislated Vipers out of being competetive. Actually the Vipers used to always win so they at first made them add something like 300 pounds to their minimum weight. That wasn't good enough for the crybabies so they came up with one size air restrictors for the whole class. Vipers 500+ ci couldn't compete. The Vettes became king untill the Ferrari's came along with their @330 ci screaming V-12.
With the air restrictors the 427 ci Vette can only do about 7000 rpm. The small v-12 @9000.
There are lots of other good Vette's out there racing. Just not as well funded as the yellow GM ones.

I like it win the vettes win, I have always been a fan of them. But you are right they are a well funded group and have an advantage over the track.

I spent all of Fri/Sat at Road Atlanta; I was sitting right at the turn when the Ferrari whacked the door off the Porsche. That wasn't nearly as bad as the bonehead who spun out in that same turn (he got bumped) just as it got dark,
and then eased his car back into the turn just a wave of traffic hit. We thought he was gonna get t-boned hard sitting in the line like that.
It was definately easy to tell when the Corvette's were racing by. What a sound!

The sound from the Vettes and the Panoz is unreal. I was sitting were the car slid under the flat bed truck. Now that was an idiot. A lot of crashes. To many..

I have been following the ALMS races and I think the Corvette team may be
in trouble next season. The Ferrari Prodrive team has gotten much better as the season has progressed and there was talk on the TV broadcast the some other manufacturers such as Maserati and Aston Martin (Ford) may have entries in next years ALMS. It will be interesting to see what the Pratt & Miller team comes up with.
