Just Damn!
I pre-expect some people to be liars, not all, to fhib, but these guys are just plain bad. Don't these sellers know most motor heads will find out their thin veil of lies. All Ee-bay is good for me is for price comparison shopping, I'd never trust to actually bid.

T - 69 coupe, #'s matching
396/ 4 spd.
R- Your kidding right? Must be rare.

T- 70 Coupe 351W/4spd.
R- 351W?? You suck.

T- 68 Vert, 350/350 4spd......cannot tell if numbers matching becuase previous owner rebuilt motor and paint covering numbers
R- I have 2 words for you..... Wire Brush

T- 69 vert, 350/300 .....unknown if number matching but last owner says it's original
R- Assuming your not a mechanical type person. Drive to nearest full-service gas station and ask mechanic to show you how to unlatch your hood then at the right front side of the engine, inboard of the A/C compressor and next to the water pump on the upper end of the block even with the front of the right cylinder head is a section of metal (tab) with numbers on it. This you match to........I go on and on
T- Update this is a matching numbers car.

he responds with 2 numbers that only had 2 digits in common out of the whole strand and no they were not even consecutive. :rolleyes:

Their are many more but you get the idea. You just can't trust these people and if it's due to lack of knowledge then get someone to post for you, and please for the Vette's sake go trade in for a Honda Civic.

Yeah I know but their is absolutely no one out their I can trust. hell even the Corvette pecialties dealers are full of NOM cars they are claiming are perfect in every way. sucks to shop.

Hang in there! It took me a year to find my car & I went through all the same BS that you're going through. The good news is, when you find a solid, #s matching car it'll stand out from the rest. Good luck! :cheers:

Well you guys know me, I'll MOD her. However the world see's a matching #'s car as the real deal which means I get more $$$ in the end. the last 2 Vettes were to be with me for life, yet both are gone. So I must look at the financially smart moves for an obviously money pit hobby.

If your stuck on the numbers matching thing, then you will probably have to go and buy from (and I hate to say it) proteam.

They seem to have the best selection. and with their publicity, I don't think they will pull the wool over your eyes.

And quit going to ebay, I wouldn't even trust the price comparison.

Desert, I have heard lots of bad news about proteam...they apparently sell a LOT of rusted out junk, all cosmetically fixed up...but still junk....lotsa complaints from many many many people.....never have I ever heard a positive feedback....

Dawg....I hope you said the above with tongue in cheeck....I can tell you horror stories about that place...to them a Numbers Matching car is a restamped block...

Paul Borowski will attest to this tale, so will FXT (posts in Factory Correct)....a few years ago a NCRS guy purchased a Numbers Matching 67 BB from these guys, one day he was steam cleaning the engine and the casting numbers fell off the block. When confronted they played dumb. This lead to a huge, huge discussion on the NCRS board. I bet if you do a search on NCRS archives, you will find the thread.

68 with a 350? :conehead No brainer. The 68 had a 327 and the 69 had the 350. :D
EBay is fun to watch but ya gotta be real careful.

The values are all over the place too. I see 78 pace cars going from $3000 to $15,000 plus. And when you look at them there not to far apart. One just has better photos. I saw a 78 Silver anniverary edition at $7,000 the other night, with the wrong paint color and bubbles in the paint. Just a bad job that will cost to much to repair. :crazy: It just had great pics.

Cali- I hear you! Funny thing about Corvettes and people. When people are buying a Vette, they claim to know everything there is to know... EVERYTHING. However, when they go to sell the Vette, suddenly they are not experts, novice car mechanics and just plain stupid??? Don't get me wrong, I have meet a lot of honest and trustworthy Covette folks along the way. For the most part, all the dealers are borderline crooks. The saying "buyer beware" is the best advice ever! As far as restamping for numbers matching is just SCHITT. Get a good job and then you won't have to steal money from other hard working people! It just blows my mind how many people mispell in their listings. I know I'm not perfect and had a few typos but some of these people I can't help questioning if they made it past the 5th grade. :nonod:
