changed out my water pump today
I put on a new water pump today(crome) I thought it was going to be a simple job but it was not simple at all. I had the pump all bolted on but because i had to use 2 shim's i could not bolt the fan on :banghead:
so after about 2 hour's of frustration I removed the pump, assembled the fan to it and bolted the fan and the pump as one piece.
anyway,I got it in and it dosn't leak and it look's good.
I guess I hit new pole insted of new topic

Re: changed out my water pump today (327shp)
I just changed my pump earlier this summer.. i felt like a complete and total idiot when i changed mine out because when i did it, i changed the radiator hoses at the same time. This seemed like a good piece of preventative maintenance on my part but I never gave it a thought that when I took the lower one off, that i should pay attention to the orientation of the hose. I ended up destroying one of the new hoses by cutting the hose. Come to find out, i had the ends swapped on the hose... Some of those things like this can make you feel all kinds of stupid... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

327shp,
Don't feel bad. When I replaced mine I had simular problems, and after 3 days I finally got everything back together. Unfortunately, the back plate of the water pump was not torqued down properly. Coolant simply drained out upon start up. Due to the major frustration, I called in a flatbed and had it towed to the shop - $200 additional dollars later it was fixed. Lesson learned!
