Backdrive cable??

Backdrive cable??
I FINALLY got it started (rocker arms were too tight) and go to put it in drive to take it around the block, and the shifter linkage is stuck. Crawled underneath to find that the backdrive cable is jammed. Can I drive without that backdrive cable connected?

You can disconnect it without a problem. Make sure the lever in the engine compartment that the cable connects to stays in the "up" position, otherwise your steering column will lock.
