Best radio for a '71 without cutting bezel?
I need opinions on who makes the best radio for a '71. Am fm cassette without having to cut the bezel. Who's got them and how do you like it?

I think Custom Auto Sound is the only aftermarket producer of radios to fit our cars.
Have heard they are junk and overpriced.
I would buy a new bezel from The Last Detail for 80 bux, cut it and get a good stereo. The price savings of going to a din style will more than pay for the new bezel.
Just my opinion.

They all suck comparitively..........Buy a used or reproduction bezel and cut it and drop in a nice aftermarket unit like an Alpine..........that is what I have with mp3 and CD capabilities as well as 200 watts :yesnod: .plus you can keep your original ............original

The stock radio is better than the custom auto sound /kenwoods that are made to fit. The kenwood is an $89 radio that is modded to fit AND they charge you $250 or more. What a joke. When you're the only game it town you can get away with it.

I am putting my headunit in my rear jack stowage compartment. So it stays stock looking but I can still bust out with some good music. I am not going to get one with a removalable faceplate and all the fancy shmancy crud, cause nobody is going to know its there.

You can have my aftermarket radio.......once I get it out......somehow Bubbas managed to epoxy it to the bell housing (or something equally as stupid and difficult)......
BTW, I agree with the above posts....if your into sounds, your best bet is to buy something decent and modify another bezel......all the trouble Bubba went through to "install" my radio and you can't even hear it above the V8 at idle :banghead:

The Pioneer Super Tuner KEH-2929 fits the bezel for 68-76 Vettes. I have a 71 and the stock ***** slipped right on. I bought the cassette, radio from Corvette Central for $309.00. Date purchased was 11/15/99. The receipt says Series 400 Pioneer radio.

I have a cheaper Pioneer model with preamp outs that i run to an EQ then a small amp (both in the rear compartment).
I just wanted to be able to hear it with the top down and maintain a more original look. Just my preference. Also put a cd changer in the compartment. I'm happy with it.
