have you carpeted your vette? what did you do about this???
my factory carpet had a really nice "retainer" sort of bead sewn in where it meets the door jam that pushed over the lip to hold the carpet in place and dress up the door jam edge...this carpet dosnt have that...
what do i do about that? is there a piece that i need to buy?
is it what Willcox refers to as "GARNISH MOULDING"?

Yeah, your missing a piece that goes in at the jamb and follows back and over the carpet. Look in 'Riks Corvettes catalog for the piece.

I have a 71 and it has no binding on the edge but it does have trim to cover it up, quarter panels. This trim was used up until 77, so I would say you got a carpet designed for 68 to 77 cars or it's a mistake. Jim

I know the peice you are talking about. On my 79 it is part of the carpet. When my buddy bought his 82 Collector Edtion that is the first thing I noticed when I opened the door. Collector Editions has 80/20 loop carpet in them while our 79's have plush carpet from the factory. I think you may have to get creative or leave the Glass exposed in the door jamb.

sounds like its time to get creative...
i think it looks like crap without it...
i went with the 80/20...never did like that plush stuff myself...
i think it looks cheap...i suppose thats why they started using it...cost.
my other "retainer" was fat too...this edge flops around in the bottom "drip edge" piece...
ill let yall know what i use to trim it up...
i WILL NOT stay like this...

You could try using that vinyl panel cover trim (I forget what it is called) Like was used in custom vans back in the day. It should slip right over the edge of the carpet. Some trim pieces designed for sofa or chair upholstery might work also. Check out a fabric or interior design store. One that has designer fabrics. Might look good and be a cheap fix.

I think it's called either webbing or beading.......been 20 years..........I think JC Whitney used to carry it, maybe still do. Hope this helps.
