The stock side pipe mufflers sold my Ecklers is 1 3/4 inch pipe. Sweet Thunder sells 2 1/4 inch pipe.

What to do?

they say you can run their sidepipes with headers when you use an adapter with adjustments. OHSIXX, are you going to run long or the shorty style headers.?

I have long headers. Going to need a 180 degree pipe bend. Just trying to figure out what to do about pipe size.

Leaving in the morning for Ecklers. Right now will probably past on their mufflers and order from Sweet Thunder. Sorta confused about it.

Did you contact Sweet-Thunder about your application? I wrote them about my '74 and they answered pretty quickly. I had a set of Sanderson blockhuggers and although they said they would probably work it was up to me to get from my collectors(Point A) to their sidepipes(Point B). I believe their sidepipe set-up is based on the same concept of Ecklers.... and that is they are designed for stock cast iron manifolds or shorties. I may be wrong, but contact them and find out. I know Ecklers will tell you to buy a set of cast iron exhaust manifolds to work with their stock sidepipes.

Default Re: Sweet Thunder (bgrice)

Well I looked at the Stainless Works Site. Seems their biggest pipe is 2 inches. I don't want to loose power over this change.

I did call Sweet Thunder today and they do have a 2 1/4 inch setup. I am not really concerned about getting the pipe to the header as I know a guy who can do anything with pipes.

Is Sweet Thunder a good place to do business with is my question?

I didn't buy from them, so I can't tell you. But, there is a thread on the forum discussing them. I don't see anyone saying they misrepresented anything or any particular problems except needing bigger exhaust. It's C-4 related by the way. Here's it is:

Very interesting! One poster said he could still listen to the radio and hold a conversation without yelling.

I can do neither with my current Borlas. So, lending towards Sweet Thunder at the moment.

Default Re: Sweet Thunder (OHSIXX)

Made trip to Ecklers today and bought some stuff. Got the BB Mufflers with 2 1/2 inch pipe to better match up with my existing headers and not loose any power by going to a smaller pipe than I aready have.

Also, got the side covers. Damn! I usually do not spend money like today. :)

Gotta wait on the mufflers a week or so.

Mark
