Looking to pick up a 72, what do you guys think on the price?
Okay here are the details.
1972 T-Top.
32,224 Original Miles
No Motor or Transmission.
Body is about 90% stripped, never hit.
In storage since 1988.
Frame has gone soft at rear trailing arms, rest of frame is excellent.
All chrome, trim and glass in tact. Front bumper needs rechroming. Interior in excellent shape except for door panels and carpet.
Here are the pictures of the car:

Now the owner is also including a mint 1969 rolling chassis with a 4.10 posi and rear clip with the deal. Here's the pictures of that one ...

He wants 5500US for the complete setup. What do you guys think?
Also, can anyone use the extra parts off of the 69 that I won't need? If I can repair the 72 frame, I will sell the 69 frame.

How did a Vette get in that condition with only 32,000 miles on it? :skep:

Seems high.....
I think for the amount of work you will have to do (plus buy a motor and running gear), you are going to end up with $25k+ in the car... and you can get a hella nice chrome bumper for $20k.

I would stay away from it. That car is really rough. You will have a lot more into it than you think. That does not look like a mint 69 frame. With only 32000 I doubt the frame would be that bad. My 72 had 42000 miles on it and the body was trash but the frame was perfect. It lived in New England until 1990 so it had winters on it.

Seems like alot of work, alot of work. If it were me I'd wait for the right Vette. Took me about 7 months of looking and two road trips to find the right one! The mileage is a non-consideration, cause it doesn't have the motor or trans and the Frame needs work! I do like the choice of year though.

There could very well be 5000 worth of parts in that mess if you wanted to spend the time and effort to part it out because that's all its good for. This guy doesn't want to spend the effort to part it out but wants what it would bring if he did. Low ball him and see if he bites.

:iagree: I think the only thing it's good for is parts and unless you can get a deal to make it worth you time and effort to part it out yourself, you should looking if you want a project.

Looking at your pics I think in my opinion you should pass. Seems like alot of work and more investment......you could probubly find one with less headaches from 16-22 K.... :iagree:

If you have lots of garage space and are looking for a long term project that could be alot of fun. But, I can tell you from personal experience that buying a vette that you don't know alot about that has been stored for 15 years is going to bring you more misery than you ever thought of UNLESS you expect the worst. Things that have not moved in 15 years freeze, crumble or cake up with non-use. My '74 was a perfect example of it as it was semi-restored in '89 and then stored. Bad idea!
$5500??? I agree with lowballing that. Remember you also have to get into Canada unless it is already there. Add "X" amount of $$$ for transportation and extra charges for one undrivable vette and the same for a frame that isn't going to get any discount(it also takes up the same space). Go get them if you plan on buying.

That seems VERY steep for what's there compared to what you COULD buy for that amount of money.
I'll agree with what other people have said, it's worth that much in parts, but not to build into a car. I'd say maybe $3500 for the lot. Even then it's the kind of task to take on for the love of the car, not because you'll be able to save a dime with a do-it-yourself project.

I see plenty of kid's toys in the pic with the frame. His wife is probebly getting on his case to get rid of the thing before she divorces him. You might be able to get a REAL good deal :D

I wouldn't just on this one just yet, it just seems like way too much work for such a low mileage car :skep:
I managed to get my '72 from http://www.collectorcartrader.com and it was almost a 3 month process of calling people and finding the right price. I live in MD and managed to find a beautiful '72 coupe in New York. Let me tell you, the 6 1/2 hour drive to get the car was well worth it as you can see!

Gotta love the chrome bumpers... thats what sold me. Just wait for the right one to come along and don't jump at the first opportunity!
Good Luck!

I agree with ddecart $3500.00 for all of it. And that is only because it is a chrome bumper car. You will be putting a lot of money and a lot of time bringing that car back. That interior is too far gone to just have 32,000 on the clock. I am suspect but for $3500.00 I would probably take a shot at it.
Good luck
