Default Whats involved in changing out my gears?

Im thinking of trying a 4:11 gear in my 74, for someone that has never messed with a rear end, what is involved? do I just need a ring and pinion and new seals along with gear lube?

Going to a 4:11 from a 3:08-3:70 will require a different carrier for one thing. Are you experienced using an indicator and micrometer and wroking within .001"? If so then do a search ,there's plenty of info here on swapping gears. Gears, rebuild kit,oil will run you about $400-$450 I don't know what the carrier will cost. there were a couple of guys selling a 4 series carrier here a short time ago.
