Default Door "Q" Help what goes here

I am replacing my door handle and I noticed a screw was missing and can't figure out what it was holding. There is an impression of something on the inside. I don't see anything laying in the bottom of the door. Anybody know?

I just noticed yesterday , that screw is missing on the drivers door of my 80. I'm not sure what it goes to either.

My '72 has a plastic shield over the mechanism to help prevent theft. I think the the screws were along there.

I don't really want to tear into the passenger side door just to find out.
I don't have build sheets to show what's there. I guess I need to invest in some.

If you have the shield, you can put the window down and look down in the back and see it over the lock inside of the door.

What I usually do when I find a screw near the car or around the house is wait and see what falls apart. :jester
