Default >> Help with wire in idle circuit of Holley 850DP

I'll have the carb off the intake later this week and want to do this while it's off to lean out the idle mixture. Any pics of where to put the wires or an explanation of where they go?

Unless the 850 is different than my 650, you just turn the screws on the side in a 1/4 turn at a time till it doesnt idle rich.

I dont know what these wires you are speaking of are.

467-ratman was the latest person that I know of to do this. You put little (.010") wires in the idle circuit of the carb to lean it out at idle. On these big carbs, the idle mixture screws don't have the adjustment range needed to get the idle mixture right (I think I said that right). Some people also drill small holes in the primary throttle plates.

some metering bodies have the IFR at the #6 position so the wire must go up there :chevy

look and see where the brass restrictor bushing is placed. that brass bushing is the IFR that you are trying to reduce the area. i would reduce the area of the IFR hole by about 10%. you do this by calculating the area of the hole size in the IFR and the area of the wire and subtract one from the other. :chevy
