I have a 99 Camaro right now but nothing can compare to the styling of the C3's (except possibly some of the C1's and c2's). I looking at getting my first vette and it will definately be a project car. I'm thinking a 76-79 since those will be the most affordable but i'd really love a 68-72 vert. I think that will be out of my price range though. then i would be swapping in a 6 speed and ls1 or ls6. I want something to cruise in though so it's gotta look good on the outside. i do like the 80 and 81 (no 82 cause i want a standard since it'll make a swap a tad easier) especially gkull(even though it's a 79) and that yellow one with GFX whose name escapes me so i might think about that to since they are supposed to be lighter. anyway you guys are the ones in the know so please help me out. loud "burn your leg" sidepipes are always nice but i just need pictures of really nice exterior shots of some C3's or some thoughts on the different years.

Welcome to the forum Erik. :cheers: I'm afraid my '71 is still too much in the project stage to be much help to you for looks, but there are some awesome cars in the group. I'm sure there will be plenty of responders more that willing to show off their rides.

holy fecal matter! that 69 on McSpeed is pretty much how i envision my dream vette. black chrome bumper vert with side pipes and those wheels are perfect. :eek:

Here's some pics of mine, you can see the groundeffects, but not all that well. Its the same stuff the yellow one has (except I don't have the rear spoiler, rear skirts, or turbo hood), he' Bionic8t1, I believe.

??? You want to swap out the drive train, what makes it a more difficult job on an 82? Considering the 82 is lighter (SMC panels), has a stronger rear than all automatic 80 & 81 cars (all 82s have the beefier stibs and 1/2 shafts that all 80&81 manuals had) it's at least as good a platform as the 80 & 81.

The yellow one with ground fx must be cappys car.

i was thinking starting with a manual car would be easier because i'd already have the pedals and linkage but it sounds like that doesn't outweigh the 82's benefits.

pedals are easily changed and believe me, when you want to swap in a stick you'll want a hydraulic clutch setup, not a mechanical one. I have manual pedals in my 82 too and a ZF6 speed, some work on the floor and it fits just fine:

either way i'd be doing the engine/tranny swap. i'd have to find a cheap non numbers matching 68-72 vert which isn't easy it seems like everyone has already restored them. i wouldn't want to ruin a numbers matching one, but i do want the new tech with the old looks cause the styling today just isn't as good. but you can't beat the power and economy combo of the new vettes/f-bodies.

yeah i think it was 8T1-7T9's that i really like. how much do those ground effects go for and where do you get them? the 78 pace cars are cool too with there wing and paint job......aw hell all vettes are bad ****.

You can get the ground effects from Eckler's, Vanacor Corvette, I know, and probably from a few other places. Vanacor is cheaper than Eckler's.
