Firehawk Indy 500 & Speed Rating
This tire is one of the very few to be available in 235/70R15. Does anyone have any opinion about it?
The speed rating is only S. But I realize, reading through the various threads, that everyone is riding on tires that have speed ratings far below the top speed of a Corvette. It looks like it is very hard to find the appropriate combination of dimensions and speed rating when riding on 15" diameter rims.
I would like a V or at least a H.

Try looking at a Firestone PV40. They are Police tires offered in our sizes and rated higher than standard tires. V rated.

I *think* the PV-40 has been replaced with the PV-41. A link to Firestone's 15 inch, V-rated goodness - http://www.bridgestonetire.com/dpp/g...sproductid=180

One of the reasons I opted for BFG T/As is they make an H rated tire in the size I wanted (225/70), although only in blackwall. The raised white letter tire that everyone uses is S rated. MJ

Indeed, I found the Firestone PV40 on tireRack. I did not realize that they were especially designed for law enforcement. Thanks 45ACP for the link.
However, they do not communicate the performance ratings.
All what they say is that they are significantly more expensive ($111 vs $61) have a lower warranty rating and much lower treadwear rating.
Did anyone try the PV40 or the PV41?

That's how it works. Soft sticky tires cost more and wear faster. Hard poor handling tires have great tread wear. It depends on what you are looking for. You pay for handling and grip. :auto:
