Default Window question

I was reading an article on lightening our vettes and they were talking about lifting the windows with a strap. How would you hold them up? snaps? A pack strap clicky thing?

Remove all the guts to the windows. except the tracks. attach a strap to the lower part of the window, and extend it above the top of the opening. to raise window pull on strap and secure to lower part of door with a riveted on snap.

It's pretty easy to do, and a cheap way to lighten the load.
