I think '69 thru '75 are the same. Check with Jim Shea the resident steering column guru.

The actual steering column is the same, 1969 to 1976. However, the steering wheel, hub, shaft lock, and extension are unique for the 1976 column.

The 1969 -75 steering wheel is the same for the standard (non-adjustable) column and the T&T. It bolts onto the hub with six screws. However, you must have the T&T hub, extension, and telescoping hardware to work with the T&T column.

Go to http://www.corvettefaq.com and download the following:

Tilt & Telescoping 69-75 Steering Wheel and Horn Parts
Tilt & Telescoping 76 Steering Wheel and Horn Parts
Std Column 69-75 Strg Wheel and Horn Parts

These three pictures show the differences in the three systems.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate your insight.. Does anyone make a kit to transfer a 71 wheel to a 76 T&T column? Would I just be better off with a 76 wheel in my 71.. I got a deal on a 76 TnT, but now it doesn't look like much of a good deal.. Thanks Steve :nonod: :nonod:

I've been following your thread, as I've been looking for a T/T for my car, but they seem to want too much $$$ for these. Where did you find one?

I would suggest that you purchase the 1976 column complete with the steering wheel and the telescope lock lever and horn button (also don't forget the tilt lever and the turn signal lever). Then I would begin looking for a 1977 through 1982 T&T steering wheel with its hub, extension, locking lever, and horn parts.

I installed a 1977 steering wheel in my 1976 years ago. The only slight problem that you will discover is that the 1977-82 extension is a little bit short when you install it on an early column. What happens is that if you telescope the column all the way rearward, there will be a slight gap that appears between the lower edge of the extension and the top of the steering column. But who wants to drive around like a NASCAR driver!

Or you can just begin looking for the 1969-75 extension, hub, horn, and telescoping parts to work with your original steering wheel.
