Wow, I thought that would be an easy one to answer 'till I looked on the net for one. You're good if you're in a 77 or earlier, otherwise a junkyard? Maybe fine one in good shape and have it refurbished. :confused:

Luckily , I have a '71. I have been trying to locate one for a friend with a '78 and don't understand why nobody makes one. Can the earlier model tanks be adapted?

I don't know if this applies, but tanks can be professionally cleaned out and resealed. My 74 Camaro sat for almost 5 years with fuel in the tank. When I had to move it I had it towed to a garage who dropped the tank and had it sent out to a company that refurbished it. They put it back in and it was as good as new, so if he has a tank perhaps it can be resurrected, otherwise find a good one at a wrecking yard and have it refurb'd.
