Curb Weights
Why the hell did the curb weight of the vettes jump by a hundred lbs in 73? What makes the 73 so much heavier than the 72 which is 50-100 lbs heavier than the 68-71 vettes?
I am guessing the bigger radiator, and smog pump had something to do with it but I just cant see 200lbs over a 68?

The front impact resitant bumper added 35 lbs., interior side beams in the doors and other safety and sound deading enhancements all added to the weight gain.

Re: Curb Weights (Guru_4_hire)
Has anyone noted a marked differance between the actual curb weight of their 'vette, and what's listed in the books???
I'm not talkin' about those of you who've pulled everything off and modified everything, either.
Anyone who's basically stock had their 'vette weighed recently??

Re: Curb Weights ('75 383 ElkGrove)
Never measured the curb weight but would like to. A little OT, the 80-82s with driver in seat measured a perfect 50/50 weight distribution over the front/rear tires, according to Road & Track mag.

My car's not stock, but I did weight it last night. Someone here on the forum suggested using the local truck stop, it was $8 and you get a certified receipt.
The reason I am posting is to suggest that anyone who does this go in the daytime and drive carefully...it was dusk when I arrived and I didn't see a big drainage culvert and drove right through it. Bounced so bad that it lifted one rear wheel off the ground and my friends said they saw sparks! Nothing seriously damaged, although I hear a new exhaust leak.
FYI, weight of my heavily modified '74 was 3320 with driver and a full tank.

Re: Curb Weights (PRESSURERAT)
The weight of your vette as it sits on the road, full tank of gas, full of fluids, spare tire and jack, etc.
