interior job update with pics...(some qestions)
the job is coming along nicely...
here are some of the things that i remember buying for the job...
im sure i forgot some...
complete carpet set (dark saddle 80/20)...new floor mats...
a complete (painted) compartment frame and doors (ready to go)
2 doeskin door panels with dark saddle carpet on the bottom...(custom order)
6 cans of doeskin stain...
new lenses for the speedo and tach...
new lenses for the center bezel gauges...
an interior screw replacment kit...
well i decided to go for it and remove the dash...
i knew i was risking damaging it but i will never be this far in again (hopfully) and i wanted to make sure everything was alright under there...
i worked at the wiring last night and tonight and that is now completed...
you know...the usual cleaning of out wires etc from previous owners...
bundling up groups nice and tight...
pretty much tidying everything up under there...
the dash had a few little "boogers" in it and i worked with those too...
i had to epoxy a very small crack near the edge and now im wondering if epoxy will dye as good as the vinyl or if it will show up...
does anybody here know?
also...is semi flat black Krylon good for painting to dash pad?
will it hold up well to the florida sun?
if not...what is better?
here is a couple of before and after pix...
for those of you asking about those clips under the dash in the other thread, here is a pic...
i will keep yall posted as the job progresses if there is an interest... :D
tomorrow i plan on pulling the ductwork and heater core housing and making sure everything is good in there...
then...Reflectex... :yesnod:

That looks scary!
By all means please do keep us informed as you go along. I need to do the same work on my car someday.

I don't know for sure about the epoxy buy you might try to rough it up before shooting it. When I did the same job I started off using SEM which is about $10 a can. Later I switched to another brand from PEP boys at about $5 a can. Frankly I can't tell the difference. I think the special vinyl paints are more flexible than conventional Krylon.

Lookin' good so far!! I remember when I did all that  . I wish I could comment on the reflectix insulation, but I haven't really driven my car since I installed it. :nonod:

Boy I remember when my interior looked like that.
I made the mistake of not replacing the heater core while I was at it. She sprung a leak 6 months later and I had to put some manual shut-off valves in the heater lines which was much easier than installing a new heater core after everything was already back together.
Someday Ill replace it, but for now; no heat... but its OK.

so no problem there...
i did find something interesting tho while removing the ductwork...
as you can see in the pic below, there is a big gap between the defroster duct and the main box below it...
this cant be right...wouldnt that mean that a lot of my a/c is escaping there???
below my dash???
shouldnt i seal that up?
as for progress...my dash is ready for dye and i expect that to arive tomorrow...
today the big brown truck brought a new set of lug nuts, my interior screw set and a rear end rubber bushing (dont know the real name)
