Bubba Blast Enclosure or What You Can Do With Duct Tape
I haven't posted for awhile but things are starting to settle down after my Wifes passing. I'm getting better at being both Mom and Dad every day and finding time to work on the Vette now.
I am in the process of sandblasting the frame and all parts for application of POR-15 and various topcoats. I didn't want to make a mess in the garage and get sand everywhere so I had to come up with something cheap and functional. Call me crazy but this is what I came up with and it works pretty good as a temporary enclosure.
I used an old house circulator and fashioned a duct from 3mil plastic and good old duct tape. It pulls cool fresh air from the house.
The ducts connect to a plastic covered frame sealed to the floor that inflates and exhausts through two 4 inch dryer hoses stuck under the garage door.
Here are some views of the inflated enclosure.
Here is a view of the air inlet from the ducted fan.
The frame sits in the inflated enclosure and the positive pressure provides a near dust free environment inside.
Inorder to keep from breathing any sand which is very bad, I had to come up with a way to breathe fresh air. I had an old hair dryer but it would only blow warm air. The motor in the hairdryer is a DC motor so I gutted it and connected it to my battery charger for power. It blows lots of cool fresh air.
I used an old pool hose to duct the air inside the enclosure.
I removed the respirator cartridges from an old mask and used some pvc fittings that I had laying around to channel fresh air into the mask. The mask connects to a vacuum cleaner hose connected to the pool hose.
The fresh air enters into both sides of the mask and provides positive pressure throughout the breathing process.
I'll post more as progress is made.

I am sooooo glad to see you up and moving again on the car. I am even happier to see you posting here again.
My wife asked about you just yesterday and I was thinking of dropping you an e-mail to check in on you and see how things were going.
I looks to be o.k. if you still have the Vette and you have the time and energy to get back to working on it.
If you want some help working on it over a weekend, let me know. I bet I could get some of these PHX area guys to come down for a day of wrenching, blasting or just general :bs .
I have not been in the Tucson area lately for work, but if I am, I will drop buy. E-mail me your phone number if you want, and I can call and give you advanced warning.
Nice to see you back.

P.S. Very  blasting / painting area. You win the McGuyver award of the year for that one.
