Just got my new heads !
Edelbrock Victor Jr. heads, they have 215cc intake runners flow 276I/208E @ .600 lift. They have 2.080 intake valves, they struck me as looking quite large compared to the exhaust valves.
I have not seen these heads on any motor on the forum yet but they were recommended a few years ago to me but I didn't have the bucks or the motor for them at that time.
I have been collecting parts for over a year now and this is the 400 stroker motor they are going on :
- 400 2 bolt block splayed 4 bolt steel caps
- Victor Jr. intake
- Holley 750DP
- Comp Cams Extreme Solid Roller cam XR286R:
Lift .614in / .621in, duration @ 0.050 248/254 deg, LS = 110 deg
- Eagle 3.875 4340 forged crank
- Eagle 4340 H Beam rods
- SpeedPro PowerForged LW Flat Top pistons 11.5 : 1 CR
- Crane Gold 1.6:1 roller rockers
- Hedamn Husler headers 1 7/8 in. primary 3.5 in. collectors
- MSD 6AL iginition
- MSD Pro Billet distubutor
- blah blah blah etc. etc. etc.
Haven't decided whether I'm going to try them first on the "L48" yet

pls. tell me that you are going to take this engine over 5k rpm to see what it will really do. So will this be the 406 instead of the 427 you were initially talking about? When will you be dropping it in? Enquiring minds and all.

Man your new motor is going to be very similar to my new one :yesnod: , if you get yours in 1st, I can't wait to hear your opinion as our "old" motors are also similar :D .
Congrats on getting your new heads, they're beautiful :smash: . I have a friend who races a 1968 Corvette in SVRA Vintage Car races who has a 383 with the Vic Jr heads and he runs awesome !

With all forged parts this one will go to 7000RPM's with peak HP at about 6500RPM's, 3.875in. stroker crank puts it pretty close to 427ci and after all the time and effort I think that's what I'll call it
It will be built over the winter and will install in the spring after I drive around with the current motor for a while :D

You guys are really getting out of hand......you know that don't ya? :smash: :D
Seriously though, it looks like a good plan! I need to go do a search for those headers your talking about. I've been looking for a 3-1/2 collector for mine. Can't wait to hear the results once you get it all together.

One Word. DAYYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUMMMM!!!!!!!!
Looking Good! Hope everything works well together.
I was just wondering how you guys know what part goes well with what part?
Obviously it's a numbers game, but is it trial and error also?
I want to rebuild, but I'm afraid of the whole error aspect!!! :jester
This is Wayne-------> :auto:
This is a Mustang :U
Here's Wayne after he races the Mustang :lolg:

I guess that is the extent of their "out of the box" CNC porting. About 3/4in. in on every port and under the seats.
I do know these heads have been flowed and they were 276cfm intake and 208cfm exhaust @ .600in lift which is probably enough for my application as it stands now. Eventually I will get them fully race ported.

Wayne, I might go ahead and replace my cam as well this winter. Curtis and Ganey were right when they told me to put that mild cam in until I get used to the hp then put a real one in. Curtis already race ported mine so as he said the time I ran last year proved how good those Dart heads really are. Might end up only doing the cam rejetting the Edel and finishing off the interior as the "boss" told me that I will be replacing the carpets in the house with hardwood this winter. Oh well I'll just get my trusty roller out and do a touch up on the paint again.
