Default Anybody out there currently using vortec heads????????

I am anxious to try my 'new' vortec heads out. Is anyone using these or know firsthand if they are as good as folks claim?

i like the ones i got last winter for my 74 pretty well. i didn't know you couldnt just use a standard intake, because the vortec heads have a different bolt pattern and layout, therefore resulting in an intake made for vortec heads...but i found that out the hard way. they are the 64cc heads from GMPP. so in answer to your question, very satisfied!

Another happy customer...

I bought mine used and got them ported a little. I love those heads, well I love my engine. IMO an engine is as good as his cam and heads as to is performance. They perform quite well with my hydraulic roller XR-270. I manage to do around 13.50 at the quarter mile with the stock exhaust minus cat, stock converter and 3.07 gear. They built great bottom end torque combine with a resonnable durated cam.

I too have vortec heads. I purchased them used but rebuilt with better than factory springs. These heads did well on the dyno even though I have never changed the cam or touched the bottom end of an old engine.

I love my Vortecs. I bought them from Scoggin Dickey for $750 assembled, with the intake and fasteners. This is unbeatable. And the heads are great.

If you want to run a bigger cam, you can pay a little more for the modified Vortecs. I went with the standard setup.

I had the guide bosses turned down to I think .630 and installed 981 comp springs plus new fierra stainless valves. what a bargain!
