Default 2004r BowTies Overdrive Question

I recently installed a 2004r BowTies Overdrive transmission and I am really pleased with the open road performance. Higher mph, lower rpm! The problem I'm having is with very hard downshifts especially in city traffic. When it comes down from 3rd to 2nd gear it sounds like my rearend hit a big rock in the road. It doesn't do it every time but enough to be worrisome. Do I have problem or is this the nature of the 2004r??
I know some of you have this tranny so I hope you can give words of wisdom.

Thanks

Make sure your U-Joints are okay and nothing is coming loose from the install. Also check your rear end mount, it is a rubber washer about 1-1/2 wide and about as thick.

These trannies do have very firm shifts, which is actually a good thing. But in your case, perhaps a little too much of a good thing. It's likely that the TV cable adjustment is just a little too tight. Try backing it off a couple of clicks. The tuning is very, very fine!

And yes, check for loose stuff :yesnod:

I notice some drag when my downshifts but nothing I feel to worry about. What if anything did BTO tell you it could be? There is a 1 year warrenty on the trans. Are you past that yet?
Keep us posted.

I knew I could get "words of wisdom"! Thanks to all for the info. I'll check for lose items and give the TV cable a little teeak. I'll let you all know if I get the problem resolved.
