Gen VI fuel pump pushrod question/debate
I am trying to get a definitive answer to this question:
On the HO 454 crate motor that is machined for the mech fuel pump. What type fuel pump pushrod should be used, the standard one or a bronze tipped one?
I have heard that it is not necessary and to use the standard one, from a GM parts guy.
I have heard from Crane cams that they would recommend one of the bronze tipped variety with their roller hydraulic cams. Since they make some of the GM cams, this got me thinking that the bronze style would be the right choice.
From what (little) I know about the subject, isn't the idea on the roller cams to match the metals that come into contact with the cam so that they are compatible with each other? One is softer than the other? Or does this just apply to the billet steel cams?
I know the ultimate solution here is to use an elec fuel pump but I was trying to use the mech style.
Just looking for the right way to go on this.
