Exhaust Outlets On My Car
Who sells that fiberglass kit that seals the exhaust outlets on my 72?
I am not seriously considering sidepipes at this time, but might sometime down the road. In other words, I would have to run out of things to do. Just curious for now.

Re: Exhaust Outlets On My Car (Robert N)
Robert: That is probably the best way to go, but that sure is a lot of money.
I have seen some cars with the kit installed that looked pretty good, but a few others that had caved in a little. Just trying to decide if I really want to do it sometime in the future.
BTW, I wonder if vanacor's other parts fit better than people say is hoods do? :skep:

Re: Exhaust Outlets On My Car (OHSIXX)
As an alternative, I saw a 71 with side pipes. The owner fit rectangular backup lights into the exhaust outlets and converted all four tail lights to red lenses ala 1968. It look very nice and was a lot cheaper than replacing the rear valence.

Re: Exhaust Outlets On My Car (OHSIXX)
Remember that some panels will only fill half of the hole for the exhaust outlets. You will still have to fabricate a patch, etc. to fill the portion that the new valance doesn't cover.

Re: Exhaust Outlets On My Car (Robert N)
Replacing the rear panel will only cover half the opening. Body line goes right through it.

Not sure on the kit, but you can replace the entire rear valance panel.

Those of you who are saying that the valance will not cover the entire opening
are not looking closely at the two lower right images. They have extra material to wrap around and fill the other half of the openings in the rear quarter panels of the 68/69s and the 70-73s. The ones from Ecklers are the same way. IMHO, the expense ($129) is alot less than having someone do the glass work to fill the old openings.

:iagree:
I used the stand to side conversion valance from Ecklers. It fills all and fits pretty good. I didn't want any seams so I glassed them in.

Re: Exhaust Outlets On My Car (Rolling Thunder)
Thanks guys. Did not think i was nuts.
OHSIXX,
I posted the page from Vancor since I knew where it was and it was a good illiustration. Prices are bound to be better from other suppliers and Forum discounts might apply.
I too agree that the cost of the panel is worth it. The finish will be clean and less risk of showing later. You might even get to retain the old valance (not sure how it gets removed).

You make a good point, but the $129 is for shipping. He wants $700 plus for the panel. The one in Ecklers is about $150. :skep:

They are saying the price is $129 and it has to be shipped UPS. You are confusing the pricing with the rear clips at the bottom which would be in the $600-$700 price range. You'll notice that the rear clips have diff part numbers and they are diffierent for coupes and verts which isn't the case with rear valances.

Here is some Corvette trivia for ya, ONLY the 69 came FROM THE FACTORY with sidepipes.
It's a fact, check it out.
