Default Pull motor to swap cam ???

Given the lack of engine bay space our C3's have, is there any way to swap in a different cam WITHOUT pulling the motor ??? If no, I'll just wait till rebuild time to add the cam my AFR180 heads deserve.
Currently: Performer 2102 (204/214 duration @ .05 ) Suggestions for a good replacement ??????

Pull radiator and unbolt condensor. You can swing the condensor coil up about 45 degrees to insert the cam. :yesnod:

With the radiator out, there is tons of room. The only hard part (for me) was tryign to keep leverage on the shaft, I think I ended up sitting in the engine bay. With long enough bolts, or a purpose-built handle, that part shouldn't be too hard either. Don't hit the bearings!!

No need to pull the engine for a cam swap.

i remember something about being able to just unbolt the top of the radiatior and swing the top forward but i dont remebr if that was just speculation on new ways to do it and the extra scape is probobly worth removing the rad.

Yep, like they said. It's simple. You will probably have to unbolt the idler arm and let the steering swing out of the way so you can loosen the oil pan.

Great choice on the AFR's!

Here's a bunch of dyno tests that'll tell you a bunch.

Seems the comp cams usually do better than the others.

I didn't have to drop the pan. I just loosened the bolts enough to allow the timing cover to go back on (it came off with the pan in place!) & tightened them up once the timing cover was back on. No leaks since.
I'm looking at sticking some AFR180's on my '81, but what made you choose 180 over 190/195's?
