Head gaskets... School me on whats what!
Hey guys!
I need an edjmacatin on what head gaskets bore means I kinda figured that you dont want an overhang into the cylinder... But how much larger does the gasket bore need to be?
Felpro the way to go? Blue, copper, steel shims? Whats all this supposed mean to me?

Unless you're using a big-bore block like a Motown, you'd use a standard bore gasket.
The blue is a composition compression gasket and is pretty much a standard gasket used in most applications. It is the easiest to use and most likely to work as advertised.
The copper is generally the choice for very high cylinder pressure applications and situations where re-use of the gasket is important (like a fuel car).
The steel shim gasket is desireable when you are trying to raise compression. They can be a bit tougher to seal since they require a finer RA of the block and head deck surface and won't tolerate warpage. They also require a sealer (copper spray paint on the gasket works well, hylomar for a bit better seal) to prevent coolant leaks.

Dpending on your needs and performance, I just bought a Summit gasket set for about $30, the one you link to is for one gasket, 2 will cost almost $100. If you building a high hp motor then I would go with better gaskets then the Summit gasket set.

This is the cam/dyno to go with it: http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Dy...62H-10_001.asp
+ maybe 10hp for the compression and 10 for the better flowing runners of the vortecs
