What parts would I need? Any machine work? Roughly how much would it cost? Thanks in advance

Solid roller camshaft.
Solid roller lifters.
Cam button and locking plate.
Maybe a bronze distributor gear on the end of the cam.
A new timing set (Maybe--good insurance.)
Timing cover gaskets.
Oil pan gaskets.
Intake gaskets.
Valve cover gaskets (maybe.)
Coolant.
New thermostat while you're at it.
Browse Jeg's or Summit. You're probably talking at least $600 out-of-pocket plus setting aside a weekend to do the job if you've done it before.

The Dude covered it pretty well but you may need pushrods as well. Double check to be sure the lifters are the same length as the ones you are replacing. If they are you can reuse your old pushrods.

[QUOTEVALVE SPRINGS also.this could be a wild card since it may need the pockets machined for big springs. might need valve guides, and a valve job, maybe new pushrods, and a rev-limiter or at least a shiftlight[/QUOTE]
MIght as well get new heads, while you're in there.

Aaargh--brain phart.
Yes, valve springs to match the cam and the correct pushrods to keep everything working in straight lines.
Comp Cams offers kits that include the cam, timing set, lifters, valve springs and a timing set.
