Default th350/400 swap

As you one or two of you know i am in the process of swapping out the 350 turbo for a 400 turbo,,, the questions i have are.

1. did the th400 cars come with bigger u-joints or driveshaft?

2.when cutting down the driveshaft, does 1 3/8's cut out sound right?

i kept the yoke and driveshaft out of the donor vehicle and will have the front part of that shaft welded onto my driveshaft because the u joint is about 3/16 bigger than the one on my vette......does this sound normal to have to do?

GM used a U-joint that fits your driveshaft to the yoke of the TH400 (thats what they did when they switched from the TH400 to the TH350). Most parts stores have them as a shelf item (I had to use it when I switched to the 200R4). I believe the shafts are the same length (others have changed from the TH350 to the 200R4 without cutting the driveshaft). The TH400 uses a electric switch to operate the downshift. It is mounted to the gas pedal and a wire plugs to the side of the trans giving it 12 volts when the pedal was pushed to the floor.

I made that swap and only changed the front yoke and the rear mount.

Sorry I'm curious - I while this is not "on topic" I was noticing that your signature (jimtreber) says you have a modified 1976 - but the picture is what, a '82? Is that a body swap?
