Im not sure what gasket your talking about everything looks put back together. You should use a jack to get it into position then bolt her in

Ed,
I used a gasket sealer on mine just for security. I am a bit confused as to your other question. Is the diff and crossmember out of the car? If not I think you will have a bugger of a time getting those top two torqued. Not much room up there.

It looks like you might be able to loosen the front bushing and the strut rods
to let the diff drop down enough the get the cover torqued on - then put the
crossmember on the cover and raise it into place. Yeah - shoulda dropped
the whole deal.
Or - you could just use a wrench - and guestimate the torque. You could get 'em pretty close.
Good luck :seeya

If you ever have to do that again, pull the whole diff out w/the crossmember and the drive shaft. It will make life a lot easier when you put it back in.

Good thing I decided to look at the forum. I'll be doing this later in the year. I probably would have pulled the whole thing anyway since I need to replace the oil seals at all shafts, but who knows, I might have opted for what appears to be a shortcut.
Glad you got everything back together Ed.

I did it this way ONCE-Never again. I think the main problem though was your jack had too much oil on it :lolg:

I would not even think about doing that way. Much easier pulling the whole thing. It is always easier the second time. You learn so much by your first mistakes. :jester
