Hey guys and gals I'm really interested in this 68 coupe at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=661483 and request some assistance from my Forum brotheren. If any of you are near Woodbury MN, (651) area code and are willing to act as a 3rd party to assess this Vette for me I'd be in your eternal debt. Actual expenses incurred gas/ time I could reimburse. Looking for someone to call up Steve (68vetter) and arrange meeting, I have his number and can easily get pertinent info to set this up. Looking for assesment of following, digital pics would be invaluable for me to make final decision;

1. paint 1 to 10, scratchs/ cracks when and how bad
2. chrome same as above
3. glass same
4. alignment of doors/ hood, possible prior wrecks to nose etc. 9i.e. alignment of lower chrome on grills)
5. interior 1 to 10 and what's left to restore
6. engine bay (unrestored survivor) what's immediate needs (I understand this would be my biggest undertaking but I can do a hell of alot with spray paint)
7. condition suspension, bushings front rear
Inspection with motor running
8. condition lower end motor, i.e. apparent leaks
9. leaks power steering??
9. leaks tranny?
10. leaks along intake or any noticileaks anywhere?
11. temp gauge at idle?
12. oil pressure?
13. exhaust related leaks
ROAD TEST
13. carb performance, bogging WOT?
14. smoothness of shift
15. aligment and braking on straight line?
OTHERS
16. matching #'s
17. whatever i may have missed :confused:

I'll figure out how to make this up to you. I am unfortunetly bogged down at work due to my hayetas (spel?) due to making Chief Petty Officer http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=653278 This has me so backed up there is no possible way to get some time off and i don't want to miss this oppotunity! steve iscompletly okay with anyone coming over and is quite the gentleman. Please help if you can.

I am taking this thread to the Minnesota forum. I'll keep an eye out to make sure you get some help. If all else fails I could make a little drive but I don't have a day off of work for 12 days so it would be a little while. Maybe one of my MN buddies can help you sooner.

Hi David,

I can help you if still needed. I live about 15-20 miles from Woodbury and I can drive over to this guy and look the car over for you. I've got a good digital camera that I can take pictures with. I have never owned a C3, so I don't know what to look for specifically, but you've given me a good list to start with. I'm also not a mechanic, so I can't offer you an expert opinion on the car, but I can tell you what I think of it. Let me know if you want my help. I'll send you an IM or email with my phone number.

I have to be frugal and get my house 1st. but do not wish to settle and get less than what I really am looking for 69 vert matching #'s. Once the house purchase is accomplished hopefully I will be in the position to have 25K to look for a nice restored 69. So yea I'm in for the long haul with the c-3 forum.
