New tires made a HUGE difference.
I just put on new Dunlop 255/60/R15s today and what a difference in smoothness and handling these made over my 11 year old 255/60 Remingtons-which still had very good tread left. I think they were starting go dry rot and develop hardspots.
Used to have a vibration around 65MPH and now shes smooth up to 85+ with no hint of anything. This is with out having any alignment work done either as the wheels/tires were removed from the car when I had them replaced.
Tires make a huge difference..

Wheels and tires make the BIGGEST change of performance on a car.
My 1980 went from wandering buckboard waggon to go-cart racer when I went to the 17" wheels and tires.

Same here. The tires looked pretty decent the '80, but had 'em replaced in speculation and wow. Really improved things.

That's great news. Tires really make a difference and old tires really can be dangerous. So, that's really cool.
