Default ram air c3 hood?

a friend of mine who builds ram air hoods for newer model cars and trucks is toying with the idea of a functional hood for a c3.the question that he has is would i be the only one interested in one of these.hp gains would be in the 20-30 range,it would seal to the air cleaner, and have all the propper drainage to keep water out.good idea or bad?

I believe Olivier (GSC3) made one himself. Hopefully he will chime in soon.

I built a cold air intake (cowl induction)... I might add a ram air setup too.. However - both - the cold air intake as also the ram air setup will be specifically designed for my car...

BTW - my planned ram air setup will NOT require a different hood..

I don't think there is much of a market for them, although I beleive he will have no problem selling a handfull of them. I think the biggest problem would be the air box. There are so many different motor mount/intak/carb combinations out there, the air box would have to be fitted to each and every vechicle. Only someone with the know-how and desire to set it up right would want one. I think there is a reason it is so easy to find a large hood but hard to find one already with a cold air setup.

Also remember that all '73 - '75 (I think may later models too) came from the factory with cold air induction. I don't believe ram air has much gain over cowl induction, at least not enough to warrant a complete new hood.

Not really trying to discourage your friend, but just pointing some things to consider.

I just got rid of my L-88 drop base and cold air chamber due to the installed height of my new Accel ProRam fuel injection setup. I will be going back with a custom through the hood ram air system. Maybe we can compare notes when we get them finished. :)
