Default Down time right when good driving weather is about to start...

well...this morning i will put her back on the jack stands for a while...
it sucks but it will be worth it...

heres what i will be doing to her...
gutting the interior and installing reflectex...
new door panels, carpet, roof panels...
removing and dying all interior plastic, including dash...
installing Keisler 5 speed kit...
AND catching up on that never ending "things to do list"

but i figure it will be worth it in a month or so when she rolls out of the shop! :yesnod:
i figure i will be asking LOTS of questions before this deal is over with!

I know how you feel but in my case it will be putting it down for the winter projects. I've got a VB&P front monoleaf suspension to put on and I have to convert the AC system to R134. I'm installing a new chrome A6 compressor and the VIR eliminator kit. Once that's done I'll concentrate on getting the trailing arms done. Hopefully next summer will be a summer of driving. The bad part is that I'll probably be doing all this in minus 30 degree temps.

well here in florida its been either to hot or too rainy to enjoy driving her during the summer...
its just now starting to cool off a little and soon the rainy season will be over...
BUT...i really want this stuff done so i can enjoy it more...oh well...
maybe i can do it all in just a couple of weeks...
the thing is i havent ordered my stuff yet and im not sure how long some of it will take to get here...especialy the 5 speed...
but if i get started by gutting the interior and removing the drive line etc...
i should be able to do the Reflectex in an evening or two...
and it will be nice to have her ready when parts arrive so i go directly to installing them... :yesnod:

If you want to see what you're in for go here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/vettfixr/page14.htm
BTW, once you've got everything out you might want to think about rebuilding the seals in the heater box. It will never be easier to get to. Also think about replacing the heater core. You don't want to put in the nice interior only to have it barf all over the new carpets.

I am going tomorrow afternoon and picking up my Keisler 5 speed at their shop. So mine is gonna be down for a little while too. Let us know how the reflectix installation goes as I am pretty interested in this job too.

i dont have a heater, it is not plumbed to the engine...
its the last thing i need here in florida...the dam car is a heater!
but as far as the seal goes...will that help hot air from entering the cockpit?
do you have pics of what it looks like from inside the car?

This is the best pic I've got. As you can see the heater box just bolts on to the firewall and if you're going to insulate it's the best time to drop it and put in new seals. The kit from Doc Rebuild has good drawings but not much in the way of instructions. Not a flame on the Doc because no one really has good instructions on this, I've checked. The main thing if you're not going to be using the heater is to make sure box seals well against the firewall so you don't get any engine heat leaking through.
