Serpentine belt conversion
Has to be somebody out there who's done this,
maybe using junkyard parts, or?
GM sells a complete kit, but it has all the accessories
too (water pump, alternator, etc) but is REAL high $
Or is there a pulley conversion kit with an idler etc?
Thanks!

Re: Serpentine belt conversion (macx)
The March stuff looks great but it is quite pricey, in fact I think it is more than the GM kit with all new accessories. I think Zoops also makes a Serpentine conversion kit that looks pretty good too. The GM kit is a good solid unit, but it doesn't have the good looks of March or Zoop kits.

Re: Serpentine belt conversion (Smokehouse69)
You just missed out, I sold all mine on the forum. Most was from an 88 vette with the except of the 85 A/C bracket.

Re: Serpentine belt conversion (77-C3 & 89-C4)
Do a search in the c-3 archives. Use "belt" as the topic.
I did this a couple days ago.
You'll find the details on getting the 85 - 88 C-4 parts needed to do it.

I did it in my 69 using stock 90 accessories. It fits and works great. If you use 89-91 parts you have to change A/C Compressors-but you will have to change at least the A/C clutch assembly anyway. You must use a reverse-rotation water pump. If you use the stock Vette aluminum water pump, you will want to convert to electric fans. I have heard that you should not mount a fan on that pump. I had a high-pressure power steering line made, but have since heard that you can use the stock C3 pump fitting and use a stock C3 hose. I remote mounted my P/S tank on the inner fender but may move it to above the alternator like an 84. I used an 85 alternator-it plugs right in-so I didn't have to convert to the junk later style alternator. I used an air-pump eliminator from Breathless. It looks great.
