Does it make the motor more accessible Olivier? It's hard to tell from the pic

I am about to begin my tilt conversion.

Oddly enough it's going to look a lot like GrandSport C3s! Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery right?!

I'm not using a kit, I'm doing mine like the custom body shop did GSC3's, cutting the front fenders and building my own hinge mechanisms.

Anyone ever manage a flip front setup where they didn't cut the area just forward of the doors? I'm really trying for the least amount of visible seams, and was considering trying to fab an automatic flip front. Still in the speculation stages, though.

You have to cut behind the wheel because the line of the door. You can't open the hood without it.

TT - Yes and no. Without significant mods to other portions of the car it cannot be done.

Just two ideas that would allow the total flip front:

1. Doors that taper into the front body either all the time or when the hood is opened - would look kind of viperish.

2. Wheels/tires that sit inside the well enough to slide the whole front end forward then tilt.

Not that these are practical, but there is always a way.

well, yeah if you go about it that way. What's wrong with cutting the front behind the fenders? I don't think it looks that bad.

TT - no offense meant, just pointing out that if you are going to modify ... there are few limits. Mine's getting cut behind the wheel well.

I was actually contemplating that 2nd option (figure out a way to move the front forward first and then up). I only give it thought because my car is white and the seams show like they were drawn with magic marker. The darker the color, the harder it is to make out the seams, and the less it would matter. I just hate to make the decesion of having a seam around the hood or seams on the sides. :skep: If my car was dark, I would just say hands down cut the sides, I think it's pretty hot.

Older bimmers have a hood hing that has to move forward first before the hood tilts up (the hinge on those bimmers is on the nose, the rear of the hood opens, just like on the vette) Might be something you could use if you want to do that.
