Talk Me Out Of Painting My C3 Black
I have owned a few black cars in the past and know the problems. I want a color that will bring out the chrome.
I only drive it two or three times per week and have the time to keep it cleaned-up. In my opinion, nothing looks better when clean. I have owned too many red and silver vettes to go there and white is just not for me.
Since I live in Florida the heat factor is a concern.

What about a dark Green ? A good chrome looks good against green.

Since it's not a daily driver and you are familiar with black, then go with black my friend! :yesnod: Black vettes always look good, especially with the chrome. Since you have glass T-tops, black isn't going to add much heat to your interior. My car is white and since my AC is broke and the doors don't close properly, the hot air that's sucked in is far worse than black paint . . . gotta have AC in the south. :yesnod:

You have time to clean it now but it will get old fast. I have a black Z28 and a white vet and if I wash both by the morning the black car looks dirty can see all te dust on it.
I agree I like black better but don't like the maintenance of keeping it clean.

OH6, everyone knows the darker the color the hotter/more loading on the a/c system, and GOD knows we have enough of that problem with the C3s...
not that I"d do a white either.....
I think a blue or green....is mighty fine....go to a auto paint store and look at the color chip books....there are so many out there, it's a joke....Whatever you do don't paint it like one of those appliance colors so popular in the era, like Avocado green, Harvest gold yellow, monkey crap brown....

I am in Florida
I am in Black
Even without AC working yet, I am very happy with my choice of color....just painted black again.

Re: Talk Me Out Of Painting My C3 Black (Stoge)
Swirl marks, minute scratches, dust & water marks, but IMHO the most jaw dropping when clean.
I always say when I see a nice looking car, whether it is a sedan or sports cars, "if this car was black, it would look really sweet!"
With all of that being said, dark green metallic would be my second choice with hugger orange or even ontario/monaco orange metallic coming in third.

I'm kinda partial to this color:

"2003 red metallic pearl" also known as "Anniversary Red" was available only on the 2003 anniversary car. It looks more maroon then red.

How about a nice warbonnet yellow? With some pearl thrown in. Like the painter on monster garage says: "I usually add this much pearl for a car like this, so I'm gonna put the whole bottle in".
