did you try rubbing compound? If compound won't work, then block sand with 1000 grit wet, and buff

Same thing happened to my 97 Blazer. I tried most everything, but I think if you catch it within a few hours the paint isn't damaged. Unfortunatly in my case, the body shop said the only fix was to sand and repaint. The egg appeared to have taken the clear coat off. The world seems to be full of inconsiderate a-holes these days.

dont use rubbing compound
use revililizing cream by Lusso. Trust me, i got out black walnut on white paint, and turned 15+ year old cracked paint into like new with cracks. I met one of thier reps at the corvette forum dinner and he helped with my paint, its great stuff.
