Default ZZ4 and Nitrous?

My dad has an 82 vette with a ZZ4 engine in it with a Holley 650cfm 4bbl, Edelbrock performer intake, and 1.6 ratio rockers on it. Also has Dynomax full-length headers with a 2.5" true dual system on it with Ultraflows and an h-pipe. We've been considering strapping a nitrous system to this thing for a little extra "kick". :D I was wondering how well this motor can take it. For the nitrous to be worth it, we'd probably want to get a 100-150 shot out of it. All replies appreciated.

It can take it, but what's behind it might not. 700R4 don't handle alot of torque.

What part(s) of the transmission should I be concerned about?

you can always upgrade to make for a beefier tranny. I had my '91 C4 upgraded to handle 500lbs of torque. I went w/ a kit from TCI which included HD clutches and servo. As far as the motor, 100-150hp shot will be fine, you have a forged crank.

I was just curious because I know that the car has a 10" converter (don't know stall) that should be able to handle the power just fine. We were told by the previous owner that the trans was beefed up pretty good, but he never gave specifics. I'm not exactly an expert on transmissions, but will it cost a whole lot more to beef up the trans if and when something lets go, or should we just go ahead and crack it open now? The trans is actually coming out of the car soon due to a slight leak in a freeze plug behind the flywheel, but we're looking to keep costs down for right now.

Everything held but the stator shaft going into the pump broke clean into. Just turned into a blob of metal shavings and chucks of metal. It was a harden shaft, so it shouldn't of done than. I was running a 2,500 stall.

I shoot about 100-150 through mine on occassion...motor will definitely handle it..... only thing is, make sure you have a Fuel pressure safety switch! A good fuel system might be required... with mine, the system will kick on and off if I do full 1/4 mile run cause there isnt enough fuel for the whole run
