Opinons needed. Why is my car bucking like a bronco?
My car bucks, jumps, and sputters. It's definitely not a vacuum leak, b/c today I tried driving with the vacuum system disconnected and plugged.
It idles fine, but when I hit the gas I get what seems like random bucking, chugging and sputtering. I also hear a popping coming from the exhaust, but that's in addition to the bucking.
Any thoughts?? I'm frustrated here......
Car ran fine, but then sat in storage for about 6 months.

I would suspect moisture or corrosion in distributor cap/ rotor. Or bad plugs or wires.

The additives in gasoline precipitate out with time and form a pinkish gum/goo. This can plug up the carb. Try the $5.00 solution: get some carb cleaner and spray in directly through carb throat. Let sit for ~30 minutes and fire it up. With air cleaner ON! Don't need a fire.

:iagree: with paul67. Did you put a stabilizer in the gas before you stored it? A can of dry gas might be a good idea. Also, shine a flashlight into your gas tank and see if you have a lot of sediment at the bottom of your tank. If you do, get a cheep hand pump, rig an extention out of tubing and with an almost empty tank and a friend, pump it out. If you get it almost dry, you can clean it with a wet vac. BE CAREFUL!

sounds like ignition. points?
i would add 5 gal fresh gas and dry-gas, but my gas is always 6 months old, and runs even 1 year old.
once i had a broken wire caused by the vacuum advance moving it. ran just like yours
