Cross pipes helped quiet exhaust system.
I asked in earlier posts about ways to quiet a car without hurting flow much. X and H pipes were discussed. I opted for a cross pipe (h) since the x would have lowered my clearance to the ground. I also had them weld in heavier flanges at the collectors (I am sure you know why if you have had experience with headers. Anyway, the end result was good! the sound is still loud and deep but it is smoothed out a bit and quieter at idle. I like the noise but in traffic it is a little much, especially here in the midst of thousands of blue-hairs. I think the whole job cost $90 for the cross pipe and the heavy duty flanges. I am happy with it. :yesnod:

Re: Cross pipes helped quiet exhaust system. (Brettmc)
Method I have read is to use a crayon to draw a line from the header flange back and let the car run, where the crayon stops melting is where to put the x or h-pipe. Now due to our crazy exhaust/crossmember set up that might not be possible but you may try it and wee where that spot lands and if you can get a x/h-pipe in there.
