no spacer for american racing wheels?
I would like to put a "vintage" style wheel such as keystone or craiger mags or american racing wheels on a 1969 vette. I've been told I'll need to add a spacer, which I rather not do. Is there a wheel manufacturer that makes a wheel that will fit without the spacer?

Some american racing rims fir without a spacer. The TT2 series, for instance, is fine without one. The Thrust D needs a spacer, or the back of the spokes machined.
You can also specify the CL205 model from AR which is a TT2 with the spokes powdercoated to look like the old Thrust D.

The Gray colored American TQ thrusts require a spacer to clear caliper. The polished Torque Thrust II's do not. Very similar looking wheel design otherwise. I recently replaced the original TT's with TTII's.
Spacer isn't that big of a deal. I ran mine for 5+ years that way well up into the 140-150 mph range with no issues. Even many serious 6-7 second 200 mph race cars use spacers to get wheel centered correctly under car.

I looked into this, because I wanted the classic look.
Certain Appliance wheels will fit without spacers. They have a beveled mounting plate. I don't have a pic of the backs with me.
I had to use 15x7 because the backspacing is only 3.5" and the next larger size is 15x8.5 which sticks out to far. But the 15x7 fit the wheelwell exactly the same as the rallies.
Hope this helps.

If you are going to spring for some good looking wheels, do yourself a favor and check out these wheels in 17" size. They look great on C-3, plus there are a lot more performance tires in 17" than in the 15" size. Plus 17"s will improve the handling of your car.

Vintage Wheels makes some wheels in 16", but they need a spacer and are about $1,000.

American Racing 200S...no spacers needed. I wanted Cragar S/S's but would've had to use spacers so I went with American.
