Default 454 question ?

i am going to look at a 76 three quarter ton pickup with a 454 in it . will this be a tall deck motor , i know the heads will be the peanut style heads, but everthing else should fit in my 73. never know when i might need a backup motor in case mine gives out .

If you get a tall deck motor, won't you end up having problems with headers and all the regular acessories having interference?

Get the block serial numbers then go check Here There are only a few Bowtie 454's listed as TALL.

I do not believe it will be a tall block in a 3/4 ton truck --- most were used in bigger 1 ton+ trucks.

:iagree:

The tall deck is a dump truck/HD engine. If it's in a pickup or Suburban it's standard deck and all your accessories will fit.
