Default new carpet too cheap?

Anyone dealt with Penn-Ohio Corvette? Their package price for complete set with heat protection seems too cheap! Is the qualty poor? This is for a daily driver not sure if I should use cut pile or loop. Any suggestions? Is it ok to list price on this forum? Another unusal item is their catalog. Their sticker is on a Corvette America catalog with discounts.

I have never dealt with Penn-Ohio, but the catalog thing is not unusual. I have seen several vendors using stickered Eckler's catalogs.

Sounds like the Custom Carpet place is ok. The Ohio outfit was $275. for front/rear and heat pad. I'll check out Custom Carpet. Thanks.

Auto custom carpet supplies most of the Corvette vendors. If you go to Fall Carlisle next weekend, Auto Custom Carpet will be there with a tractor trailer full of carpet. You can get it there and save the shipping.

Auto Custom Carpet was bought out about a year ago. I have heard they are not doing any more shows. They have a stranglehold on the market and make a good product, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Al Knoch in El Paso, TX is recognized as the supplier of the most correct replacement carpet. Never dealt with ACC. Some suppliers sell the correct color carpet, but it doesn't have the correct number of "threads per square inch" like the original.

A friend has the cheesy carpet installed in his 69 coupe. Where the carpet bend or folds over the various contours, you can see the carpet backing through the threads. Nice color match...nice fit...but poor quality carpet. Don't know where he bought it. Ask for a sample if you have any doubts. Chuck

I purchased a lot from them a few years ago in Carlisle. No problems, all the brand name items were use to seeing from everyone else. The carpeting I got from them for my 71 was ACC if I remember right, and everything was fine. They were there this year, but with a much smaller presence.
Another good supplier to check is The Last Detail.

Pretty much all the molded carpet being sold that is good quality is ACC carpet. Different vendors price it different and I'm sure they can do that by the quatity they buy. If it's ACC it's good. Willcox has good prices but if you need the door panel strips I think The Last Detail http://www.tld-corvette.com (I think) will beat them. I love the 80/20 loop but wouldn't put it in a deluxe interior car. Good luck
