Looking for prints on drive on ramps
There were a few posts by a couple of forum members that have built a set of drive on ramps for their vette. I have tried the search function and can not find the thread. Could ya'll please reply with some pics or maybe someone saved the thread and could post the link.
I am getting ready to pull the motor and would like to have the car off of the ground to do so.
Thanks for the help Neal :)

Re: Looking for prints on drive on ramps (chevymans 77)
I don't use them, but what a lot of people will do is buy a set at an auto parts store and then use some 2x10's to basically extend and decrease the angle of the ramps. I don't have any pictures that I can post, as I just use a jack and jack stands.

Someone here found it on the Mustang site:

I made a pair and they work great.

Made from 2x12 outdoor wood. Bottom piece is 42" then subtract 6 inches from each additional piece.

Here's a set of ramps I made a few months ago. I don't have any real plans for them, I pretty much just based it on Arisa's ideas, took some measurements and winged it.

Re: Looking for prints on drive on ramps (80Xflags)
Thanks 80Xflags those are one of the sets of ramps that I recall seeing on the forum. The pictures will work fine as a referance to build mine.
Thanks Neal :)

That drive on ramp looks great. I made something close. One small recommendation. I put a piece of wood across the end of the ramp to stop the tire roll and I would know where the end of the ramp was.

Re: Looking for prints on drive on ramps (80Xflags)
If 80Xflags can tell me the length of his "bridges" and the length of the ramps, I can finish some blueprints and scan them in and post them to the forum.
I am building some now and don't have those 2 measurements yet. I have the plans drawn out with a list of materials needed.
I have based my "bridges" on using 22" long pedestals, with a 98" wheelbase and the bridges come out to 76" between the pedestals.
80Xflags - can you confirm these numbers ?

Re: Looking for prints on drive on ramps (BSeery)
Alright, here's my numbers . . .
My wheelbase was set at approximately 99". I *think* the vette was actually 96" but I made it an average of all the cars in our house so they can all use the ramps. There's still plenty of room to spare with the 3" difference.
My bridge measures 78".
My ramps' length (their actual length, not the horizontal length) is 57". It was supposed to be an even 60" (5') but the doofus at the lumber yard messed up one of the cuts and made one a little short. I checked the measurements though and 57" would clear, so I decided to live with it (note: this is for a 1980, other front bumbers may be different).
My pedestals measure 24" long at the base. About 1.5" is lost on the top part to allow overlap of the bridge.
Your numbers look good BSeery  . They're in the same ballpark as mine.
Need anything else? Let me know.
Matt
PS - As a little disclaimer, I accept no reponsibility for damages to vehicles or property with the use of my measurements. What works for me might not work for you. Working under any car that's elevated is a dangerous situation! So make sure your ramps are sturdy or use the appropriate jack stands to be on the safe side.
